Denise Haney, Founder & Breeder
Denise’s journey began in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, where she was raised by her parents and grandparents. Her love for horses has been a lifelong passion as far back as she can remember. As a child, she was surrounded by stubborn little Shetland ponies, which sparked her early fascination with horses. Denise didn’t exactly inherit her horse obsession from her dad. However, her dad made sure she always had a horse by her side. When she turned 11, her dad upgraded her horse obsession to a Welsh Pony. With the guidance of her uncle Mickey, she managed to break and ride her very first horse.
Denise is deeply invested in breeding Traditional Gypsy Vanner Horses for their bloodlines, temperament, conformation, and quality. Her foals, often standing between 15 and 16hh, are known for their size, strength, and beauty—embodying the “Go big or go home” philosophy. With big bones, striking apple bums, and abundant feathering, her horses stand apart not just in their looks but also in their traditional bloodlines. Previous foals have gone on to be exceptional in riding and driving prospects all across Canada & US.
Our breeding program includes lines from The Lion King, The Old Horse of Whales, George Harrisons Good Black Stallion, The Lob Eared Horse, The Gypsy King, SD Woolly Mammoth (SD Empire), Romany King, and more foundation bloodlines.
On her farm in Hines Creek, Alberta, Denise breeds and raises Gypsy foals, born between late April and mid-June, ensuring they are well-prepared for their new homes at five to six months old. Each foal is trained to lead, load, tie, and receive their first trims before they leave. They are sent to their new homes with a halter, lead rope, and a bag of the sweet feed they were raised on. Denise even goes the extra mile, personally hauling her foals to meet with Equine Transport for their journeys to their new owners.
Family is central to Denise’s life. She has four children and many grandchildren she loves dearly.
With 9 Gypsy mares and Tighan, what Denise likes to call her “all that hot shot and a cup of tea” stallion, she continues to follow her lifelong passion, crafting a legacy that embodies tradition, strength, and beauty.
